I need to drive back out there with my reel in hand to verify if it will fit on the spindle or not. I've found the power handle locally at a hunting & fishing store called Van's Deer Processing (Brandon MS). I would also like to add a single grip 'power handle'. I would like to change the gear set to bring it up to a more modern 5 or 6 to 1 retrieve. I believe the reel is either a 3.x:1 or 4.x:1 ratio reel. The reel's solid and has no problem with the power when the drag is locked down as tight as possible (I've had drag issues for years with it, so I just keep it as tight as possible ) The serial number is 840200. The problem is reeling that sucker back in with a big fish on it.
It's a real dead ringer for reaching out and touching something when I want it to.
I use it in a Tight-Lining method on a 7' zebco rod, typically a 80-100 yard cast using 2-4 oz bank weight. I tried using the reel for bass fishing but it's just not well suited for that kind of application, so I use it for catfishing for large Blue Cats in the Pearl River & Ross Barnett Reservoir here in Jackson, MS. I've got this old Abu 5500C from the 80's that my father gave to me a few years ago when I started learning how to fish.
